LEED® - Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design - is a certification system for sustainable buildings born on a voluntary basis and applied in more than 140 countries in the world. Its standard was born in U.S.A. by U.S.Green Building Council (USGBC), a non-profit association founded in 1993 with the aim of promoting and developing a global approach to sustainability, giving recognition to virtuous performance in key areas of human and environmental health.

LEED is a voluntary and consensus-based system for architectural design, construction and management for sustainable buildings and high-performance areas; it is increasingly developing internationally and can be used on any type of building, promoting an integrated process design for the entire building. In this perspective therefore is called to take part in the consultancy of the LEED® AP, which does not give the certification to the building but performs a function guide for the achievement of this one, adopting a series of best practices.

The goal is to participate in the earliest design phases from the firtst stages of feasibility study by guiding the team towards a correct design. A LEED®AP knows perfectly these certification procedures and can even advise client, companies and every part in the team on the project management to get the certification. There are many issues in this regard, including design and implementation times, possible contractual or contract constraints, certification systems to be adopted and what level are expected.

As you will see in the EDUCATION section, there are many types of certification related to the LEED v4 standard, referred to the type of building on which you are called to operate; there is also a distinction according to the class obtained at the end of the construction analysis. The rating levels are four: Certified (without any additional title), Silver, Gold or Platinum (based on obtaining more points on the scale of the claims pursued).
